We installed Ray Pak 6 years ago.

Serial/model number

170844**** / H3 - 0090BR

Paid $6000 plus. 2 years later, the system was not working.

Paid $1000 to get it fixed.

Been working till last year. Paid $2500 in December, to get it fixed. January it stopped again. Fixed again and was charged $1600 plus.

It lasted for 4 days and was told I need a new sensor that will cost me another $1800.

We have now removed the system from home as we called several technician and were told it wasnt the sensor and not worth fixing. This unit has been a told nightmare for us.

Hoping you will somehow compensate the loss.

Please contact me if you need details.

Third raypak heater

customer service is not bad, but they do make you jump through a LOT of hoops before you can talk to someone knowledgeable. We are on our 3rd unit. we got 17 years out of our 1st pool heater and then only 3 years out of our second heater. sorely disappointed... I just put in unit #3 this weekend...will keep you posted

My call to Raypak was handled extremely quickly and well. Tanya was very helpful and polite during our conversation. She even sent me pictures to confirm parts and part numbers. Absolutely no complaints from me.

Pool heater corroded after one season

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
bought a P-R404A-EN-C model ( about $5000) , starter failed and machine leaked after one year . after various back and forth where company made up arguments ( literally lied ) they refused to amend situation due to their " warranty policy ". based on pool company who they hire for technical issues, they are aware of the product being faulty . after being offered replacement parts for over $1500 plus quoted about another $1500 to instal same ( of course no warranty on replacement parts ) . i decided to cut my losses and got a sta-right unit . never again RAYPAK

Way too complicated and time consuming. Following 100 prompts and still never got to speak with anyone. You offered to call me back and that never happened either.

Poor Experience as an Employee

Troubleshooting is outsourced to a 3rd party company using remote employees, these employees have no hands on experience and are given very little resource to assist customers.

They are taught to blindly go through a flowchart for trouble shooting.

They are understaffed and in many instances the few people capable of helping you are nowhere to be found, or flooded in queue and it can take incredibly long to get in touch with someone. There were often times where people are being sent into empty queues and customers sometimes would call in for weeks without their issues being resolved.

You are being given a run around for as long as possible because in its current state Raypak is unable to follow through with its warranty process.

Its partnered technicians refuse to work for them because Raypak does not deliver them payouts for their warranty work.

If you happen to be in an area where no warranty partners are available or they simply refuse to work, this situation is dealt with at the expense of the customer.

They are expected to pay for the repair, and eventually be reimbursed, however the details of when this happens are ambiguous. Like their own partnered workers, Raypak sometimes will not pay out their customers and they are left calling in again and again for status updates.

RETURN

RAYPAK SENT ME FOUR OR FIVE SHIPMENTS OF PARTS UNDERWARRANTY TO REPAIN MY RHEEM HEAT PUMP. THE COST OF INSTALLATION EXCEEDED THE COST OF A NEW HEAT PUMP SO I BOUGHT A NEW ONE. DO YOU WANT ME TO RETURN THE PARTS?

Preferred solution: I just want Raypak to send someone to pick up the equipment they sent me. If not, the equipment is going into the trash.

User's recommendation: Do not buy Rheem or Raypak. They are unresponsive, undependable

After 1 season, pool heater needs to be replaced

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is our 2nd Raypack heater in 3 years. The first heater went after 2 months use and was replaced by Raypack, and now the second heater went after 1 season of use.

Our seasons are short - late May to Early September. The pool water leaks into the unit and corrodes it. Then they say it is our fault for not having properly balanced water. We've had this pool for 18 years.

And we test our water every week through our pool company. The first 15 years we had a Hayward pool heater with no issue whatsoever, then bought the Raypack and disaster.

We are so upset that we have to replace our pool heater again! We will NEVER use a Raypack product again, nor would I ever recommend them!

Don’t want to back up warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased a heater. Installed heater with temporary flex connector gas line, ran the heater for one week and the water tank started leaking. They denied my warranty because if the flex connector. Which has nothing to do with the water tank. Keep in my Ive been installing hvac equipment for the last 35 years and never had any problems. This heater is junk, I dont recommend buying it it will beak and they wont cover it.

Raypak - Called manufacturer assigned tech on Wednesday because new heater doesn’t turn on....
I had a licensed and insured plumbing company install it. I could not turn it on for 24 hrs because the glue had to dry. When I tried to turn it on, it would not turn on. The screen to tell temperature never cane on. Installer came back out and tested the electrical and gas connections and they were fine. I am very frustrated terrible customer service.
